The Latin American School’s Saturday program for the August-December 2023 term will take place at the Centro Hispano in Raleigh, a space that has flourished as a true refuge for the Latino community in this region. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Centro Hispano Inc. and Pilar Rocha-Goldberg for their collaboration on this project. This partnership strengthens our community and fills us with gratitude. We look forward to welcoming all our students in this inspiring environment!

In the event of snow or other potentially hazardous weather or emergency situations, the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families are of utmost importance to us at Latin American School. We closely monitor information from the Wake County School Systems, local weather forecasters, and local law enforcement to make informed decisions regarding school closures.

Our decision-making process follows the guidelines outlined below:

  1. Timing of Decision:

a. If weather conditions or an emergency situation allow for a decision to be made the day or night before, we will strive to communicate the closure by 11 p.m. This will provide families with ample time to make necessary arrangements for the following day.

b. In situations where it is not possible to make a decision in advance, we will conduct a thorough assessment of weather and safety conditions early in the morning. A final decision will be communicated no later than 7 a.m. to minimize disruption and uncertainty.

  1. Communication Channels:

a. We understand the importance of promptly notifying our school community of any school closure. Notifications will be sent through multiple communication channels to ensure widespread awareness.

b. School Mailing Lists: Updates and announcements will be communicated via email to the school’s mailing lists. It is essential to ensure that your contact information is up to date to receive timely notifications.

c. In-School Communication: If circumstances permit, information regarding school closures will be posted in visible locations throughout the school premises to ensure that staff, students, and families are informed upon arrival.

d. School Website Homepage: The school’s website homepage will be updated to display a prominent notice indicating any school closures or changes to the regular schedule. We encourage parents and guardians to check the website regularly for updates.

We acknowledge that the decision to close the school may result in inconveniences for our students and families. However, our primary concern is the safety and well-being of everyone within the Latin American School community. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during such circumstances.

We recommend that you familiarize yourself with our communication channels and ensure that your contact information is up to date. By doing so, you will receive the most accurate and timely information regarding any weather-related or emergency closures.

Please be assured that we will make every effort to communicate any school closures as efficiently as possible, providing you with the necessary information to plan accordingly and prioritize the safety of our students and staff.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Sincerely,

Latin American School
